Quanyails Portrait 2016

I felt like updating my avatar on Steam, so I decided to make a digital drawing. I then figured that I could work my drawing into a sprite avatar for DeviantArt. So I did that, too (see here).

I've been practicing digital drawing in Photoshop, so I decided to continue that trend into this piece. I decided I wanted to draw my foxes more like foxes rather than border collies, so I referenced these two images. I also wanted to draw an expression beyond a demure smile, so I tried a grin. I think it came out of uncanny valley, but is that just me? ._.

I apparently went fully with a cel-shaded/anime style in the end. I don't know how to feel about that. It's practice, I guess? If I want to really do clean linework, I should probably use a vector graphics program like Illustrator. It'd save me a lot of time. XD That's a lot I'd have to learn, then! I felt like I learned a lot about digital art, though, from this drawing. I've been making progress!
